Haha, at last, X-Country 2006 has finished. It was supposed to be held earlier but due to O level results release, it had to be postponed. I biked to Bedok Reservoir and reached there about 5 mins just before the first contenders ran. I was somewhat tired already… Imagine carrying 2litres of water, camera equipment, a heavy bag and having a almost full stomach and racing to the location. Haha. Took quite a number of pictures at the starting point. Tina Kwek was there, to hold the starting line string, instead of relaxing, she had to help out… Haha.
After awhile, I went to the mid-end point of the track to take the first few runners to finish the race. Some of the competitors and non-competitors were all asking me to lent me my bike, some even asked for water… Hiaz.. Last time, I didn’t had water until I finished the race. You all want water? There’s a huge supply just to the right of you, the big fat reservoir. A group of 5A/B girls even posed to take a photo. There’s the usual shy people, the don’t give a damm, the wannabe and the “hunks”. Surprisingly, there were lots of strippers. Mainly the front competitors, took their shirts off, I think I may have seen someone holding a torn shirt. I think he wants to be superman… Craps. It also had rained, for awhile. It looked like it was about to get worst, but it suprisingly stopped. If my memory persists, for the past 4 years, it either, show signs of raining, it drizzle, rained. I don’t remember having proper sunshine for the whole event at ALL.
Anyway, at the end point, instead of taking photographs, I immediately became Search & Rescue, asked by teachers to find Mdm Cheong, whose car was blocking someone. Someone said, find Mdm Koh, you find Mdm Cheong. So I started from the end point and found the former, but not the latter and I also found a sick student who needed attention. Mdm Koh said Mdm Cheong back-tracked already, so I got a 2 NCCs cadets to help the student and I went back to “report” my search. After reporting, I started from the starting point to search for Mdm Cheong. In the end, I reached halfway and had no sight of her. So I called Mr Samsul, who already told me she had returned. ARGH@@!#$!@$@!%$ I had probably missed her before I started off the 2nd time. Dammit, tell me earlier and I could save some energy. Waste of time.
Anyway, I backtracked and rested for 5 mins before continuing my shooting spree. At this point of time, the race was finishing. Took some pictures of the students “patiently waiting” for the prize giving ceremony. Then Mrs Tan came over and told me that one of the NIE teachers lost his car keys and required my Search & Rescue “expertise”. Asked me to find… Its pretty dumb. Such a big place. Luckily, I saw the NIE teacher, asked him, and he said he already walked another round (he ran one round with the students beforehand and “supposedly” lost his keys on the track) in search of his car key. So… I wasn’t needed. Anyway, after awhile, some teacher found the key and it was on one of the tables. Careless of him… Hiaz… Anyway, I had hang around for awhile more after the whole occasion finished before going home. I saw Tina scolding an NPCC cadet who had stuffed his uniform in a plastic bag… She then called the whole squad to assemble and soon after, everyone was “POOF”, missing. They had ran away. Haha. Lame.

When biking yesterday evening… Spent about 3 hours outside… Damm tired… Logged about 2 hours plus on the road on my speedometer. Did not count stops at petrol station to pump air and traffic lights. I also spent half and hour changing my back tyre and my grips. The new tyre feel damm smooth, good at corners too, especially while riding fast. But require lots of air in the tube. Else it will be dragging the whole bike.
Last evening’s destination was Harbourfront. Yeah, from Tanah Merah to Harbourfront, just under 1 hour, but, but, not counting the time used to change the bike parts and stops at traffic lights. So about 1 hour 15 mins if you count the traffic stops. Damm tired on the trip back from Harbourfront. Probably due to the fact that I have not bike so fast for a very very long time… Now, while typing this blog, my legs weighs like a ton of bricks… Too tired to move i guess. The traffic there was killer, I gotta find another route to Harbourfront, else the traffic will kill me one day. I took the route from Esplanade to PSA Ports to Harbourfront for your info. Lots of vehicles especially at around 7p.m and big container trucks. The construction was also hindering my biking… Damm pathetic place… IF you want to bike there, especially at night, wear lots of ‘blink blink’, shiny stuff. Lights and a helmet is must. Also, have fresh tyres, the gravel and debris on the edge of the road can puncture your tubes.
On the way back, I was struggling to get back home, most of the time, I just wanted to hail a cab and go home… It sucks especially not having any music to listen too. Actually it isn’t safe… The irony is, listening loud music while biking isn’t safe, but listening at low volumes is useless due to the vehicles speeding here and there. You might as well don’t listen to music… And I don’t have an earphone, the one I have is an In-Ear earphones, so you are practically biking in your own world…So I wouldn’t, definitely, mustn’t listen to music using those earphones… 99% chances of getting killed, banged, injured, seriously injured, head concussion. Its a pretty long list to go… Yeah… Need R-E-D-B-U-L-L…… W-I-N-G-S….
Yippie I am MOST WANTED… A simple story twist. That’s all, ending is a little crappy though. You escape, but with heat level 6. So… Yeah, you get the idea. You are CROSS-eD After about 5 mins, your “girlfriend” will call you to tell you a way to escape because all your safe houses are busted. You cannot evade the game at all, till she calls. By the way, you get a nice show at the end. However, it doesn’t end there, because, you still got the rap sheet to finish. As long you are not No. 1 on your rap sheet, you won’t exactly finish your carreer mode. For me, I think I am done with the whole game. School’s starting anyway, so got to get used to study life again. IF i remember correctly, once you completed the rap sheet, you can get some hidden car or something. I remembered hearing it at the credits part after you have evaded Cross. See ya, gotta ‘vroom’ before I get busted again.
